Tickets are on sale now for the expanded summer season of five open air plays at Lytham Hall.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company will launch the season on Sunday 17 June at 6.00 pm., the first weekend of their four month summer tour.

The company will present Richard Main’s production of Louisa Alcott’s popular novel, Little Women, adapted for the stage by Laura Turner to mark the 150th anniversary of its publication.

Fylde coast fans will then welcome the return of Illyria, after three acclaimed shows last summer, as artistic director Oliver Gray presents Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice at 6.00 pm on Sunday 8 July.

Oliver Gray is looking forward to being part of the Lytham Hall bill once again.

“We love the enthusiasm of our loyal followers on the Lancashire coast and the beautiful setting in the parklands of Lytham Hall is ideal for open air performance.”

Illyria will be back for a “double header” weekend as they stage The Hound of the Baskervilles on Saturday 18 August at 7.30 pm, followed on the Sunday by Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance at 6.00 pm.

Last summer Lytham Hall’s attendance for the family summer show The Emperor’s New Clothes was the largest of Illyria’s 80 venue tour. This year on Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon 26 August Illyria are expecting a capacity audience again for the season’s finale The Adventures of Doctor Dolittle.

Julian Wilde who is organising the season of plays is delighted with the balance of the 2018 programme

“I feel the variety of this summer’s programme will have a strong appeal. With a classic novel, Shakespeare, a spine chiller, Gilbert and Sullivan and a menagerie of talking animals there’s something for everyone this summer.

People are pleased that they can book on-line as well as at our six local outlets and I am confident that we are going to have a well-supported season.”
