Bags of Help

Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative in hundreds of regions across England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each of these regions awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.

Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store from 27 February until 6 March on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards.

We have exciting news: we are shortlisted to win Tesco's Bags of Help for our Kitchen Garden project and we would be delighted to win any of the awards.

The Kitchen Garden project is a community project which would see a kitchen garden built adjacent to the bee hives at the back of the tea room. We plan to grow salad leaves and herbs, which will be used in our tea room kitchen. There will be bike racks included as part of the scheme, and compost areas too.

So, from 27 February, if we could ask you to shop at Tesco's in the area, and vote for our project? Thank you so much in advance. Your vote could make all the difference.
