Always wanted to learn more about wildlife? Join us during half-term for a wildlife week at Lytham Hall. On Monday 30 May come to visit for Butterfly Day, with crafts above the tea room (please pre-book via 01253 736652, £2.50 per child), or pick up a butterfly identification sheet and go for a wander through the park, discovering butterflies as you go. Tuesday 31 May is Bee awareness day, organised by Blackpool & Fylde Beekeepers Association, where you’re able to see bees in an observation hive, do some honey tasting and crafts like beeswax candle making. Aaron takes centre stage at Lytham Hall

It will be a welcome return to Lytham Hall next month for a young actor who learned his craft at Blackpool and the Fylde College. Aaron Charles will play the lead role of Heathcliff in Chapterhouse Theatre Company’s open air production of Wuthering Heights at Lytham Hall on Sunday 12 June. Aaron, 23, who lives in Southampton, graduated in 2013 after spending three years at the School of Creative Arts at Blackpool and the Fylde College. Lytham St Annes businesses take centre stage

More Lytham St. Annes firms are putting themselves in the spotlight by becoming patrons of the 2016 outdoor theatre season at Lytham Hall. Four further Red Rose businesses are lending their support to this year’s summer programme which opens with Chapterhouse Theatre’s production of Wuthering Heights on Sunday June 12. Broadhursts Optometrists and florists Bond and Bloom who have both recently opened new premises in Market Square and Clifton Street in Lytham respectively have become Patrons for the 2016 season. Tomlinsons Chemists from Lytham and Ribble Packaging from Oldham have also been added to a list which began with just five Patrons in 2010, bringing the total to twenty. Ailsa Pember

Herons nesting

We think our visitors are a delightful bunch, who help keep our doors open to the general public. Some visitors, however, are more special than others. We are not into name dropping, but Mr and Mrs Heron and friends are very welcome return visitors to a tree near our lily pond. We were thrilled to see this fantastic couple set up their nest overlooking the lily pond, which, you’ll agree, is one of the best views in the historic parkland. The picturesque remains of the boathouse, trees all around coming into leaf: they sure know where best to pitch up.
