Outdoor Theatre

The response to the news that outdoor theatre is back at Lytham Hall next month has been exceptional.

Sunday 16 August will see two performances, at 4.30 and 7.00 pm, by one of the country’s leading open air touring specialists Illyria with a new production of “The Wind in the Willows”.

Three quarters of the 400 tickets have already been sold as Fylde coast theatregoers have rushed to support live drama at Lytham Hall after the lockdown.

Lytham Hall will be the only Lancashire venue in a six-week nationwide summer tour by Illyria which concludes with a week’s residency at the famous cliff-top theatre at Minack in Cornwall.

Organiser Julian Wilde is delighted but not surprised that local theatre enthusiasts are turning out in force to support Illyria and Lytham Hall.

“Illyria have staged some memorable productions at Lytham Hall for the past ten years and I think our audience of 200 for each performance are in for a treat. We will have all the necessary safety measures in places and I know that the cast and the audience will simply revel in a live performance after five months without.”

The two performances of Kenneth Grahame’s ever-popular tale of Rat, Mole, Badger and their encounter with the overbearing and loud Mr. Toad will last an hour without an interval. All tickets must be booked in advance, with none on sale at the gate.

Gates will open for picnickers an hour before each show and the Hall’s tea room will be open for refreshments.

Remaining tickets are on sale now on the Illyria website and from the Lytham Hall office by phone, E mail or in person at a cost of £10 for adults and £7 for children of school age.
