Edward Simpson

One of the Fylde coast’s favourite actors will be back on stage at Lytham Hall next Saturday 17 August as Frankenstein comes to life.

Edward Simpson will be making his eighth visit to Lytham with summer touring company Illyria, as the cast of five present a new musical version of Mary Shelley’s iconic novel created by the company’s artistic director Oliver Gray and musical director Ben Wiles.

Edward played the title role in last summer’s family show The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle for Illyria and has previously made himself a favourite at Lytham Hall with leading comic characters in five Gilbert and Sullivan shows.

This summer Edward plays scientist Viktor Frankenstein’s best friend Henry Clerval in a show which has received five star ratings during the course of a nationwide tour to 28 venues in just 34 days.

Reviewer Louise Watts writing in What’s Good to Do saw the production at The Hawth Amphitheatre in Crawley

“There were several fantastically funny songs, including Edward Simpson’s rendition of “Making Babies”. He was hilarious throughout the show and certainly brought the comedy element alive in what can otherwise be a seriously dark story.”

A full house of 500 is expected for Frankenstein, the third in the five plays in the 10th season of open air theatre at Lytham Hall. Tickets www.illyria.co.uk www.lowtherpavilion.co.uk Tickets and details www.lythamhall.org.uk 01 253 736652
