A record donation of £8100 is being donated to the Lytham Hall restoration fund from the summer season of open air plays. Consecutive full houses for The Tempest and Frankenstein together with strong financial backing from 26 local business Patrons has helped to boost the profits from the five play programme.

The money will be handed over to the Hall’s General Manager Peter Anthony by theatre organiser Julian Wilde at a special ceremony early next month.

Julian is delighted that it will be used directly for restoration projects which visitors can see and enjoy.

“The completion of the painting of the exterior of the House on the south and west fronts will be welcomed by everyone. The Hall is already looking very much smarter than 18 months ago and I am very pleased that the theatre donation will help to finish this work.”

In addition funds will go to the full renovation of the ornamental parterre garden on the south side of the Hall, including the much loved Diana statue.

Peter Anthony feels that the record donation is the result of the time and commitment of an army of voluntary helpers.

“We have enjoyed five top quality performances this summer with a special highlight being Steve Royle’s master class portraying the life and death of Victorian music hall superstar Dan Leno, a show attended by comedian Peter Kay.

The whole experience for playgoers here is first class and that results from hard work and attention to detail by Julian and his team of Friends of Lytham Hall and Volunteers. We owe them a huge vote of thanks.”

The proceeds from the 10th season of outdoor theatre at the Hall brings the total donated to £50,000. Next season will begin on Midsummer Day 21st June with Chapterhouse Theatre Company’s stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Emma.
