Always wanted to learn more about wildlife? Join us during half-term for a wildlife week at Lytham Hall.
On Monday 30 May come to visit for Butterfly Day, with crafts above the tea room (please pre-book via 01253 736652, £2.50 per child), or pick up a butterfly identification sheet and go for a wander through the park, discovering butterflies as you go.
Tuesday 31 May is Bee awareness day, organised by Blackpool & Fylde Beekeepers Association, where you’re able to see bees in an observation hive, do some honey tasting and crafts like beeswax candle making. Learn all about bees – no need to pre-book.
Wednesday 1 June is Hedgehog Day with crafts above the tea room (again, please pre-book, places limited) and resident hedgehog lady Leigh brings hedgehogs to study up close. You don’t get a chance like this very often!
Bird day is on Thursday 2 June, with bird walks starting in front of the tea room at 11.30am and 1.30pm, followed by nest building in the grounds. Lancashire Wildlife Trust will be with us on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 11am and 3pm with their nature table/quiz and colouring activities.
Of course we also have our story door trail through the parkland at £2 per trail. Find the doors and discover which fairytale is depicted. This is available every day from the tea room. Feedback has been great. Visitor Helen Jenkins said on Lytham Hall’s Facebook page “We have just had a lovely afternoon as a family, looking for story doors at lytham hall. The children (aged three and six) loved it As did my husband and I. So glad to see the doors back this year as the fairy doors were much enjoyed last year. Brilliant fun for £2”
