After the success of last year’s Fairy door trail in Lytham Hall parkland, this year we are proud to announce a Storydoor trail through the park. Fourteen doors have been hidden in different areas, and each door depicts a different story. You need to find out who lives there! It is possible to stumble across the door of Little Red Riding Hood, Mother Goose or Sleeping Beauty (sshhh, don’t wake her!).
Sue Lowe, volunteer coordinator at Lytham Hall said: “We were delighted with the uptake of last year’s trail but didn’t want to just do the same again. This is why we’ve made new doors and put them in different places. Children are the ones in charge at this trail, which will keep families busy for about an hour. Families often do the trail in stages during different visits.”
All doors have been lovingly made by Lytham Hall volunteers, who will now start work on doors for you to place at home. An A3 colour trail leaflet is available from the tea room or estate office price £2.
“It’s brilliant to see the parkland so busy,” said Marianne Blaauboer, activity plan officer at Lytham Hall. “The trail really helps people to venture off the beaten track and discover the lesser-known areas of our 78 acre parkland. This year we’ve upgraded to a colour leaflet sponsored by the Forestry Commission with more to be learned about the wildlife in the park on the back of the trail.”
Perhaps this answers the question what you could be doing this weekend!
