250th birthday party: 7 September

To celebrate our 250th birthday party we would like to invite everybody to join us for a free visit on Sunday 7 September. From 12pm we have 250 cream teas and balloons to give away to the first 250 visitors, there will be poetry from the Fylde poets (who will even read some of Harry Clifton’s poetry) and music from April Keen in the house and in the parkland there will be guided tours and children’s games, plus have-a-go archery in the Upper West Wing. Butterflies at Lytham Hall

As part of this year's ‘Big Butterfly Count’ we have found seven species of butterfly in the parkland of Lytham Hall. They are Comma, Large White, Meadow Brown, Speckled Wood, Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Peacock (shown here). If you have seen them or any others please let our Ranger Sarah know. Friends of Lytham Hall and Lytham Town Trust Masked Ball on the 6th September 2014

There is a sparkling wine and canape reception in the Hall when you will be welcomed by George Turner our Master of Ceremonies looking extremely smart in his hunting pink. Set back at the Hall

This week we had some disappointing news at Lytham Hall. First we learned that we have been unsuccessful in our bid to the Coastal Communities Fund to tackle flooding, extend car parking, and introduce cycle racks and lighting into the parkland. This much needed investment would have enabled us to grow the capacity of the site, and offer better and safer access to the public. There is a silver lining though, our congratulations go to Park View 4U who were successful and it’s good to know that Lytham is one of only ten towns to be benefitting from some of this Government cash.
